EMİNE VALİDE PAŞA MANSION - BEBEK

The only Ottoman female pasha lived in this mansion!
Emine Valide Pasha, or Emine Necibe İlhami Hanım sultan as she was born, is the daughter of groom İbrahim İlhami Pasha, the son of the Egyptian Hıdivi I. Abbas Hilmi Pasha, and Münire Sultan, the daughter of Sultan Abdülmecid.

Emine Valide Pasha, born in 1858, was also the last hydrator of Egypt II. She is the mother of Abbas Hilmi Pasha and is the only woman in the Ottoman history to have received the title of "pasha".

Sultan II. demolished the mansion that was gifted by Abdülhamid (according to a rumor, he bought it with his own money) and built the mansion today. Built in 1902 by architect Raimondo D’Aronco, the mansion is in Artnouveau (new art) style.

This magnificent mansion, located in the middle of the Bosphorus, has three floors facing the sea and two floors on the street facade. It has the longest coastline among the mansions on the Bosphorus, with a 76 meter pier.

When the Republic was established, Emine Valide Pasha wanted to donate her mansion in Bebek to the state. However, since the young republic did not use titles and positions such as pasha and agha, he called her "Emine with a baby", and Emine Valide Pasha, who was not pleased by this, donated her mansion to the Egyptian government on condition that it would be used as a consulate.

Although it is named as a mansion, it is actually one of the most magnificent palaces on the shore of the Bosphorus.
